AI Transparency Notice

Last updated: 10 September 2026

Written in plain language so it is actually readable. It is not a substitute for legal advice, and we review it as the service changes.

1. You are interacting with AI

¡Vamos! uses artificial intelligence to teach. Whenever you chat with the tutor, ask for an explanation, submit writing for correction, or receive feedback on speaking, the response is generated by an AI language model — not by a human teacher. This notice is provided in line with the transparency obligations of the EU Artificial Intelligence Act (Regulation (EU) 2024/1689).

2. Where AI is used

  • Tutor chat and conversation practice: replies are AI-generated by Google's Gemini models.
  • Writing corrections and feedback: error detection, rewrites and explanations are AI-generated.
  • Speaking and pronunciation feedback: your recording is transcribed and scored automatically by Microsoft Azure AI Speech (accuracy, fluency, completeness and word-level detail). No human listens to it.
  • Synthetic voice: most spoken audio in the app is text-to-speech (AI-generated audio), not a recording of a human speaker. When the studio voice is unavailable, your device's own built-in Spanish voice reads the text instead — it sounds more robotic, and it is still synthetic.
  • Adaptive scheduling: what you practise next is chosen by algorithms based on your answers, mastery estimates and review history.
  • Some generated exercise content is machine-assisted and labelled internally; core lessons are human-authored and reviewed.

3. Limitations

AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete or confidently wrong, including grammar judgements and translations. Nothing in ¡Vamos! is professional, legal, medical or certification advice, and AI feedback is not an official language assessment. Placement levels and CEFR estimates are indicative practice signals, not certified results.

4. Human oversight and no automated decisions about you

¡Vamos! makes no legally or economically significant automated decisions about you. AI is used only to generate practice, feedback and study recommendations. The operator reviews content quality and can correct or remove material. If feedback looks wrong, tell us and we will look at it.

5. Emotion, biometrics and profiling we do not do

We do not use AI for emotion recognition, biometric identification or categorisation, we do not build advertising profiles, and we do not use your data for social scoring. Voice recordings are used only to transcribe and score the pronunciation of what you said.

6. AI providers and your data

To generate a response, the text or audio you submit (plus minimal learning context) is sent to the providers we use: Google AI Studio (Gemini) for text, Microsoft Azure AI Speech for transcription and pronunciation scoring, and ElevenLabs for spoken audio. They act as processors on our behalf and do not use your submissions to train their models. We never send passwords or payment details. Where a provider processes data outside the EU/EEA, the transfer relies on an adequacy decision or Standard Contractual Clauses. See the Privacy Policy for legal bases, retention and your GDPR rights.

7. Your choices

  • You can use the app without recording your voice — speaking exercises are optional.
  • You can reset your learning data at any time from your progress page, or ask us to delete your account entirely.
  • You can contact a human at support@vamosespanol.com with any question about AI-generated output.

8. Changes

If our use of AI changes materially, we will update this notice and ask account holders to review and accept the updated terms.
